Dorney Park fans will not have to wait much longer to try out the park’s newest addition.

The park announced in a news release Friday that Iron Menace, the first-ever “dive coaster” for the park and region, will be open to guests on preview days April 28, April 29, May 4 and May 5 ahead of the season opening.

Guests will also have access to certain rides and rollercoasters.

“We are thrilled to open Iron Menace to the public early and offer these Preseason Preview Days,” Jessica Naderman, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom’s vice president and general manager, said in the release. “We know that the extra two weekends will help our guests fall in love faster with a breathtaking roller coaster that is unlike anything in our region.”

Passholder preview days for qualifying passholders will be held in advance, according to the release. More information on that will be released later.

Iron Menace, announced last summer, has 2,200 feet of steel track and a “hold and dive” element, in which riders will be hanging on to the edge of their seats waiting for a 152-foot drop, according to the park.

The ride, which will have speeds of up to 64 mph, goes for about 90 seconds. It is the first new roller coaster at Dorney Park since 2005.

It was built at the site of the former Stinger roller coaster, north of the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Dorney Park Road.

Guests will also be able to try it during the park’s “Ride for a Cause” event April 19.

The park opens for the season May 10. Tickets may be purchased at dorneypark. com.
