Man charged with aggravated burglary

A North Ridgeville man has been arrested by the Avon Police Department for an alleged aggravated burglary and may face other charges after police say he entered a home with a shotgun, struck an occupant of the home with the barrel, discharged a round and took a dog.

According to a news release from police, on July 27 officers went to a home on the 35000 block of Detroit Road and were advised that Auston York, 19, of 188 Forest Blvd., entered a home and assaulted a resident of the home and an 18-year-old Avon Lake man.

The call was placed to the non-emergency line at 5:10 p.m. by an 18-yearold male resident of the home. The caller was not home when it occurred, but made the call when he came home, about 15 minutes after York left. At the time the incident occurred, the caller’s 16-year-old brother was in an upstairs bedroom, but was not involved.

York was found by the North Ridgeville Police Department around 10:22 p.m. and was detained.

“Investigation has revealed that this incident is related to York and residents and friends of the resident of the Detroit Road residence,” the news release said. “We have no reason to believe that any other citizens should be concerned about similar incidents.”

Avon Police Capt. Larry Fischbach said the detective bureau is still investigating the case and needs to talk with people.
