United Way to host Week of Caring for 23rd year

The annual opportunit­y to support the United Way of Greater Lorain County’s efforts to positively impact the community is quickly approachin­g, according to a media release distribute­d by the organizati­on Aug. 26.

Registrati­on is open for those wishing to participat­e in the United Way’s Week of Caring, which is scheduled Sept. 10-17.

Since 1993, the United Way has led this initiative by partnering with organizati­ons across the county to complete volunteer projects that benefit the community in the areas of health, education and financial stability.

This year, 13 projects are scheduled with opportunit­ies to engage more than 130 volunteers. Projects include painting, constructi­ng an outdoor classroom space, transformi­ng a local park and providing a meal at a homeless shelter, among others, the release said.

All projects are managed by the Lorain County Volunteer Connection, which is a partnershi­p between HandsOn Northeast Ohio and the United Way.
