United Way to host Week of Caring for 23rd year
The annual opportunity to support the United Way of Greater Lorain County’s efforts to positively impact the community is quickly approaching, according to a media release distributed by the organization Aug. 26.
Registration is open for those wishing to participate in the United Way’s Week of Caring, which is scheduled Sept. 10-17.
Since 1993, the United Way has led this initiative by partnering with organizations across the county to complete volunteer projects that benefit the community in the areas of health, education and financial stability.
This year, 13 projects are scheduled with opportunities to engage more than 130 volunteers. Projects include painting, constructing an outdoor classroom space, transforming a local park and providing a meal at a homeless shelter, among others, the release said.
Those wishing to sign up, can do so at uwloraincounty.org/volunteer or by calling 440-277-6530. Group or company sign-up information is available by emailing alyssa@handsonneo.org or by calling 440277-6530.
All projects are managed by the Lorain County Volunteer Connection, which is a partnership between HandsOn Northeast Ohio and the United Way.
