Aug. 15 opinions more like garbage

-

Page A4 of the Aug. 15 Morning Journal is titled “Opinion.” A better title would be “Garbage.”

Jonah Goldberg wrote regarding his voting choice for president: “I’ll write in some third choice.” I saw Jonah on the stage with other conservatives honoring Peter Schramm just before Peter died. I knew Peter. Peter would have told Jonah that voting for somebody else is a vote for Hillary — someone Jonah describes as “corrupt and deceitful.” Go figure.

David Rothman wrote: “No proof exists that Trump wants to be a dictator willing to kill and torture enemies. Still, even the possibility is scary ...” And this opinion, apparently, is offered because Trump says he punched a music teacher? There are a few of us who have punched somebody in our lifetime. It does not mean we want to be a dictator.

I do remember a dictator, a “president for life,” elected and then re-elected three times, finally dying in office. Franklin D. Roosevelt put American citizens who looked Asian in internment camps, suspended our Bill of Rights, packed the Supreme Court and ran roughshod over Congress until the day he died. And then there are Obama’s drone strikes that occasionally kill women and children (but very few). Does Hillary want to pack the Supreme Court?

As of yet, Trump has done nothing other than be a successful businessman, really annoy the establishment and be completely politically incorrect. As for what I read on the Aug. 15 Morning Journal editorial page regarding Trump and Clinton — like I said, garbage.
