Euclid football player Andre Jackson died on Sept. 25 following an injury he sustained in the Panthers’ loss to Solon on Sept. 23.

The Euclid School District confirmed Jackson’s death in a statement issued to WOIO-TV 19 in Cleveland, which broke the story.

The statement issued to Channel 19 read:

“Today, Euclid High School junior Andre L. Jackson passed away following an injury sustained during Friday night’s football game. Andre was a hardworking studentathlete that brought smiles to all those with whom he came in contact. The Euclid City School District would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the Jackson family during this horrific time.”

A phone call to Coach Jeff Rotsky was not returned. Euclid athletic director Patrick Higley declined comment when reached via phone in what he termed “a difficult time.”

years.

During the fourth quarter of the Titans win over Warrensville Heights, Dower took a jet sweep and looked to turn the corner.

That’s when the magic happened.

After getting past the line of scrimmage, Dower used a burst of speed to put distance between the Warrensville Heights linebackers and himself over the next 30 yards before throwing on the brakes as the safety came to him. After juking to the left, he was off, but the linebackers had caught up. No problem. Dower broke three tackles — including a diving attempt that caught his foot — and did a fantastic job of keeping his balance as he completed the 75-yard touchdown run.

Did I mention he’s a freshman?

Have fun LEL.

Jackson was a fullback and linebacker for the Panthers. According to Channel 19’s report, Jackson was taken to a local hospital on Sept. 23 and died on Sept. 25.

More updates will be provided as they become available.
