- By Matt Medley

The Rocky River Pirates bounced back with a dominant, 48-13 win over the Valley Forge Patriots on Sept. 29.

Running back Dameon Crawford scored three touchdowns in the first half and quarterback Cameron Blue found Jack Aerni for a 50-yard touchdown.

The Pirates continued their dominance in the second half, as Crawford scored two more times to finish with five touchdowns.

The Patriots got on the board in the fourth quarter, as Louis Arena punched in a one-yard rushing touchdown, which was

set up by a defensive fumble recovery by Devin Carter.

Pirates running back Ladarrius Denham got in on the action to make it 48-7 with a oneyard rushing touchdown.

The Patriots got on the board one more time, as Chris Marone scored a one-yard rushing touchdown with less than a minute to play.

Pirates head coach Josh Wells was pleased with his team’s effort, after losing their two previous games.

“Tonight was important. Things didn’t go our way for two weeks,” said Wells.

“We didn’t play very well against two good opponents. But Valley Forge fought hard and it

was a good physical game.” Wells continues to be amazed by Crawford, his star running back, who broke through tackles and missed one defender after another all night.

“He’s lights out. He runs very well, very hard and it’s a huge boost for our offense.”

Rocky River improves to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Great Lakes Conference, while Valley Forge falls to 0-6 (0-2).

Next up, Valley Forge plays Parma on Oct. 7, while Rocky River hosts Normandy.
