After allegedly exposing himself to two adults and two youths at a downtown Lorain church, a Lorain man now faces a single charge of public indecency.

Daniel Seagrave Cross, 27, of 710 Broadway Ave., was arrested Sept. 27 following the incident that took place at Wesley United Methodist Church, 220 W. Seventh St.

According to the report, an officer had just left the church at 6:11 p.m. after

taking a report of a suspected breaking and entering.

While parked around the corner from the church, the officer heard a woman scream and witnessed Cross running east on Seventh Street. Moments later, dispatch advised that Cross allegedly exposed himself to members of the church, the report said.

The two adult victims, identified as a 49-yearold woman and 57-yearold

man of Lorain, told police that Cross entered the church holding a makeshift metal cross, the report said.

Cross allegedly appeared to be “not in his right mind” and refused to leave despite being asked several times, according to the report.

At one point, Cross took off his shirt and began walking toward the adult male, the report said.

A 14-year-old female and 17-year-old female ran out of the church at this time, the report said.

Cross then ran out of the church, followed by the adult male victim. The report said the 57-year-old

man gave Cross back his shirt, assuming he was going to leave.

Once he got his shirt back, Cross pulled down his pants and exposed himself to all four victims, the report said. Cross then fled east on Seventh Street where he was taken into custody.

According to the report, Cross has no prior sex crime offenses. It also didn’t indicate if Cross was under investigation for the break-in.

Lorain Municipal Court records show Cross is scheduled to appear for an arraignment hearing Oct. 5.
