A 37-year-old Elyria man who received sexually explicit images of children at ABC Kidz Day Care in Elyria from his girlfriend, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

James Osborne received his punishment Oct. 19 from Lorain County Common Pleas Judge James Miraldi.

During Osborne’s sentencing, one of the children’s parent spoke, according to Miraldi’s bailiff, Tim Jenkins.

Sentencing has not been set for Osborne’s codefendant, Heather Koon, 27, of Elyria.

Koon admitted to molesting the children and sending the images to Osborne in March and

April 2013.

Both Koon and Osborne victimized six children during the span of two months, according to authorities.

Osborne pleaded guilty to four counts of complicity to rape, complicity to kidnaping, pandering obscenity involving a minor for each of the four victims in that case, and illegal use of a minor in a nudity-oriented material or performance for the fifth victim, and two counts of illegal

use of a minor in a nudity-oriented material or performance for a sixth victim, according to court records.

He also pleaded guilty to engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and failure to register his address, according to court records.

A Lorain County grand jury had indicted Osborne on 81 charges, while Koon was indicted on 40 offenses.

On June 30, Koon pleaded guilty to four counts of rape, kidnapping and pandering obscenity involving a minor, for each of the four victims, according to court records. She also pleaded guilty to

illegal use of a minor in a nudity oriented material or performance for a fifth victim, and two counts of illegal use of a minor in a nudity-oriented material or performance for a sixth victim, according to court records.

She also pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

In March and April 2013, Koon removed four children from their assigned room at ABC Kidz Day Care and took them to an employee bathroom. She sexually assaulted the children and videotaped the incidents using her cellphone,

then sent the images to Osborne to view, according to the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office.

In April 2013, Koon used her cellphone to take pictures of a 1-year-old at the Elyria center and also used the device to take pictures of a 3-year-old at Country Day School in Amherst, where she was working when she was arrested, according to court records.
