Apprehensi­on detail nets 15 arrests

A joint effort between the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio State Parole Authority and the Lorain County Probation Office resulted in the arrest of 15 men and women who had outstandin­g family violence warrants, according to authoritie­s.

On Oct. 19, the agencies took part in the 14th annual National Family Violence Apprehensi­on Detail, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

By 3 p.m., the 15 individual­s with existing familyviol­ence-related we in custody, the release said.

Officers arrested 12 people and three turned themselves in. All were booked into the Lorain County Jail.

The collaborat­ive effort is commonly known as SWEEP and is to help raise awareness about family and domestic violence.

The release said offenders will be held accountabl­e for their actions.
