VERMILION – James William Cody, 76, of Vermilion, died Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born November 6, 1940 in Rock Lick, WV and had been a Vermilion area resident for the past 51 years moving from Lorain. James worked for Ford Motor Co., rain as a relief man for 35 years retiring in 1995 . He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising chickens, gardening, and archery. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol (nee Bragg) Cody of Vermilion; daughters, Nancy (Ira) McGinnis of Lorain, Amanda (Martin) Ives of Camden Twp, Jami (Joe) Sexton of Vermilion, Jennifer Cody of ion, and Sara Cody of Vermilion; 15 grandchild­ren; 14 great grandchild­ren; brother, Elmer Cody of Lorain and his sisters, Sharen Morton of Elyria and Cheryl Suttle of The Colony, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Carrie (nee Moore) Cody and his sisters, Betty Jones, Shirley Carr, and Karen Morton.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 from 5-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Josh Budka will officiate. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery, helm Twp.
