Two men with gunshot wounds were treated at Mercy Hospital following a shooting Feb. 25 at Luna Night Club, 2156 E. 28th St. in Lorain, according to a Lorain police report.

About 2:20 a.m. while conducting bar patrol on Grove Avenue between East 28th and East 29th streets, an officer heard five gunshots and watched as people ran from the night club while looking back, the report said.

A man was seen holding his right leg and limping through a neighboring gasoline station parking lot, but officers were unable to reach the 20-year-old Lorain man until Mercy officials contacted police when two males arrived with gunshot wounds, according to the report.

At the hospital, both the Lorain man and the 21-year-old Elyria man who was shot, told police they were unsure who fired the gun, the report said. The Lorain man said he heard multiple people arguing before the shots. The Elyria man said he heard about three shots before feeling a sting in his left leg, the report said.

The Lorain man was shot just below his butt on the rear of his right leg and medical staff did not believe the bullet exited, according to the report. The Elyria man was shot in his left leg, but medical staff indicated the bullet exited.

Both victims were taken to Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland for further treatment, the report said.

Officers attempted to talk with witnesses and bar employees to determine who the shooter was or if there was any type of disturbance that led to the shots being fired, but no one claimed to know anything, the report said.

One male standing outside indicated the shooter ran across 28th Street, but no suspects were located after a perimeter was established.

Police units did not find any spent shell casings, leading officers to believe the gun involved may be a revolver, the report said.

The incident remains under investigation.
