What: Division II North Ridgeville District sectional semifinal When: 7 p.m., Feb. 28 Where: Bay High School, 29230 Wolf Road, Bay Village For the record: Both teams ended their regular seasons with a loss, but Bay totaled 14 wins this season to Brookside’s five . ... The Rockets have had 11 days off since their regular-season finale, but don’t expect that to slow them down. ...Bay junior R.J. Sunahara has been a force all season, averaging 23.9 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.8 blocks per game. ...Brookside will have its hands full with the 6-foot-6 Sunahara. McNees’ pick: Bay 10-plus points per game, and senior Colin Myers can do it all for the Falcons. The 6-foot-5 senior averaged 16.6 points and 7.4 rebounds this season . ... For the record: MLK boasts the Senate League Player of the Year in Ronald Vann, a 6-foot-2 guard who averaged 20 points and eight rebounds in the regular season . ... Lutheran West’s two best wins were Dec. 17 at Cuyahoga Heights (38-36) and Jan. 3 at home against Firelands (59-52) . ... The Longhorns have struggled this season and will have to work hard to make sure things don’t get out of hand early against a 15-win MLK team. never quite found an identity this season, but finished off the regular season with two conference wins over Lutheran West and Brooklyn . ... The Raiders have shown flashes of brilliance, but will need to stay consistent all game to have at shot against a 12-win Smithville team . ... 6-foot-6 junior Josh Borling leads Columbia with 11.1 points per game, but look for sophomore Brandon Coleman and seniors Austin Sahlica and Jared Heidecker to step up in the first round of the postseason. For the record: An eighthseed against a ninth-seed is usually a toss up, and I tend to lean toward the underdog in those matchups . ... Open Door has a star in sophomore Trey Brooks who averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.1 blocks in the regular season, and the Patriots will need him to be on his game to make it out of the first round . ... Kidron Central Christian has 11 wins to Open Door’s 10, and this one could very well come down to who has the ball in the final seconds. McNees’ pick: Open Door
