Avon lake Public library events
The following events are scheduled at the Avon Lake Public Library in March:
• Great Lakes Theater Presentation – Jabberwocky; March 4 at 10 a.m., Great Lakes Theater will present Jabber-wockery, the story of two students who band together after being bullied by classmates. They follow a secret map and escape to Tulgey Wood where they meet a king who begs them to save his people from the fearsome Jabberwocky. Along the way, they find the courage to defend the Jabberwocky and apply the lessons learned to face their fears back home. Recommended for students K-5.
• Beginning Beekeeping — Learn all about what it takes to be a beekeeper March 6 at 7 p.m. Kristopher and Evona Gaughan of Gaughan Bee Dancin’ will share information geared to beginners. You’ll learn where to place a hive, how to install and feed bees, and how to conduct a hive inspection. The presentation will include a beehive (less the bees) and the tools used to care for them. • Tween Crafternoon – Melted Crayon Art — Make an awesome art piece on canvas, using melted crayons on March 8 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For ages 10 – 12. Registration required at the Information desk or online at alpl.org.
• Level Up! — Drop in to play board games and video games on March 9 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. For ages 12-17.
• Tree House Club – Glow-in-the-Dark Helicopter — Learn about circuits as you make a paper helicopter with LEDs that light up its whirling blades. Children ages 8 -11 are invited to join the Tree House Club on March 15 from 4 to 5 p.m. Registration is required, beginning March 8 in Discovery-Works, online at alpl.org, or by calling 440933.7848.
• Bookin’ and Cookin’— Grab a bite to read, and join the cookbook club. Select recipes from the Library’s cookbook collection and then we’ll get together March 15 at 1 p.m. to sample our culinary creations. The theme for March is “Irish cooking.”
