Alleged armed robber, accomplice arrested

- By Kelsey Leyva

Two Elyria residents allegedly involved in an armed robbery earlier this month, were arrested March 28, according to Elyria police Capt. Christopher Costantino.

Devante M. Fluker, 18, of 10th Street, was charged with aggravated robbery and is who officers believe fired a single shot inside a home in the 300 block of 10th Street Ally March 4, Costantino said.

A 16-year-old male also was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in connection to the crime.

Around 11:45 p.m., March 4, officers responded to the residence on 10th Street Alley and spoke with the 28-yearold female and 18-year-old male victims.

Costantino said two juvenile girls, whose ages he did not know, also were inside the home when the robbery took place.

The victims said Fluker was invited over and he ended up bringing two males with him, including the 16-year-old.

Costantino said there was some discussion about smoking marijuana, and the adult female victim told the males who were present they couldn’t smoke in the house.

The woman said she thought Fluker went to the bathroom, but he in fact left the residence and returned a short time later brandishing a .22-caliber revolver, Costantino said.

Fluker then took the victim’s purse, fired a round that became lodged in a wall and ran from the residence with the two males he arrived with, the captain said.

Identification cards, as well as an undisclosed amount of money, was in the purse that was taken, Costantino said.

Fluker and the other two males involved split the stolen proceeds, he said.

One male suspect is still at large and is actively being sought by Elyria officers, Costantino said.

The 16-year-old, according to Costantino, admitted to knowing the robbery would happen. Fluker also admitted his involvement and that a gun was used.

Costantino said Fluker was arrested March 28 at Elyria High School where he is a student.

The weapon Fluker used during the robbery was recovered March 28 at a home in the 600 block of Middle Avenue.

Fluker was booked into the Lorain County Jail. Elyria Municipal Court records show a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 30.

The 16-year-old is being housed at the Lorain County Detention Home, Costantino said. Fluker
