Homes proposed for $20M development
Nestled among metro parks and a family-owned nature preserve could be a proposed housing development.
Nestled among metro parks and a family-owned nature preserve could be a proposed housing development worth more than $20 million.
The 109 single-family, ranch home development is called the Reserve of Beaver Creek, said Shaun Brady, managing member of Cam Brad 3 at 1290 Bassett Road in Westlake.
In the earliest stages, the plans include four styles of single-story homes priced at $175,000 to $250,000, Brady said.
“We hope to put phase I in by the end of this year,” Brady said.
Amherst Planning Commission on March 29 approved a conditional planned development district under a new law, said Mayor Mark Costilow.
The proposed development goes to Amherst City Council for approval, he said.
Greenspace and walkways at the Reserve of Beaver Creek are planned to tie in with new trails planned by Lorain County Metro Parks, Brady said, adding a dog park for residents to enjoy their furry friends is planned, too.
The development would be located off Hollstein Drive near Mercy Health and Recreation Center behind Premier Toyota of Amherst, Brady said.
Matt Nahor, 46900 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, said his family owns a nature preserve on one side of the proposed development. He would rather see single family homes there than businesses under a current zoning category for the property.
Brady also coordinates with the city of Amherst on behalf of Cam Brad 2 regarding a Preserve at Quarry Lakes subdivision, which includes 100 singlefamily homes.
“We expect to be sold out of lots by the end of the year in the phase we’ve already put in at the Preserve at Quarry Lakes,” Brady said. “The homes are going up and we have a tremendous sales funnel.”
Phase I includes 27 lots, Brady said.
“The model is under construction and it will be completed in May,” Brady said, adding anyone interested can go online on a Ryan Homes website and find The Preserve at Quarry Lakes.
