A 53-year-old man is facing criminal charges stemming from allegedly committing indecent acts April 3 in a public place in Avon, according to an Avon Police Department report.

Robin James Jacobs was charged with public indecency and booked into the Avon Police Department before posting bond and being turned over to the North Ridgeville Police Department on an outstanding warrant.

The report indicates Jacobs has an Avon Lake address, but Elyria Municipal Court records show he lives in North Ridgeville.

Avon Police Department’s dispatch call log indicated at 12:32 p.m. April 3, a complaint about a man masturbating in his truck in the parking lot of a business in the 35000 block of Detroit Road.

Upon locating Jacobs, his red 1993 Ford pickup truck and talking with the department store’s security, the suspect was taken into custody, the report said.

Elyria Municipal Court records show Jacobs was wanted in reference to a case filed in January 2015 where he was found guilty of operating a vehicle while impaired.

A warrant was issued for Jacobs’ arrest in June 2016 after he failed to appear at a probation compliance hearing in May 2016.

A contempt hearing for the probation violation is set to take place April 11 in Elyria Municipal Court.

Jacobs also is set to appear April 6 in Avon Lake Municipal Court on the public indecency charge.
