Area residents join Ashland chapter
The following students are members of Ashland University’s Student Veterans of America Chapter:
• Sarah Hyer of New London, Hyer is majoring in nursing. Hyer is a 2005 graduate of Black River High School.
Jaime Ledesma of Wellington, Ledesma is majoring in nursing. Ledesma is a graduate of Wellington Senior High School.
• Danielle Lucas of Spencer, Lucas is majoring in supply chain management. She is the daughter of Curt and Jill Lucas of Spencer. Lucas is a 2010 graduate of Black River High School.
• Patrice Sullivan of Westlake, Sullivan is majoring in early childhood intervention specialist. She is the daughter of Petra Sullivan of Westlake. Sullivan is a 2013 graduate of Holy Name High School.
The Ashland University Chapter of Student Veterans of America was organized in 2012 and gained full charter status in 2013.
A Veteran Resource Guide has been published, Veterans Day Ceremonies have been conducted on campus, and AU has been recognized nationally as a Military Friendly School. AU has been a Yellow Ribbon Program participating institution since 2011. Student veterans of AU have access to personal and professional counseling, academic advising, career services, financial aid, disability services, withdrawals due to deployments, Yellow Ribbon funds, and recognition events. The local chapter is associated with the national organization located in Washington, D.C.
