NEO authors converging for book signing
A group of northern Ohio authors and television personalities will sign books and meet people April 20 at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Amherst.
Authors-on-Call includes sports writer Dan Coughlin of Fox 8 TV; Bob Adamov, a Lake Erie Islands mystery adventure writer; Neil Zurcher, travel writer and host of One Tank Trips books and television series; Mike and Janice Olszewski, radio and television historians; and special guest “Big Chuck” Schodowski, of the Big Chuck and Little John Show on Fox 8 TV.
The writers plan short presentations about their books at the 6-9 p.m. program hosted by the church at 515 North Leavitt Road (State Route 58) in Amherst.
Ted Driscol, coordinator of the event, says to come early and stay late to catch the wisdom of seasoned celebrities.
The authors will be available to chat and to sign their books throughout the evening.
From Rocky River, Coughlin covered Cleveland sports for more than four decades as a sportswriter, television broadcaster and columnist.
Zurcher’s professional journalism career spans more than 60 years, logging more than a million miles over 35 years on Ohio roads as a TV travel reporter. He continues writing projects from is home in Bay Village.
Adamov, from Wooster, bases his mystery adventure stories on Put-in-Bay, a South Bass Island resort village on Lake Erie called the “Key West of the Midwest.” He plans to release a book this spring.
Mike Olszewski is a Cleveland radio and television personality and curator and archivist for the Ohio Broadcast Archive and Museum. Janice Olszewski is a travel industry professional and photographer.
The program includes two other special guests: Matt and Leah Rafferty, who host a podcast called, “The Author Inside You.” The Raffertys interview authors from around the world about how they started writing and their experiences with book publishing.
The evening program is free and open to the general public.
“This is a great opportunity for chairpersons from churches, clubs and other organizations to do some ‘one-stop shopping’ and take care of their entertainment schedule needs for the entire year,” said Mike Olszewski, spokesman for Authors-on-Call.
This event is the group members’ only joint appearance this year in Lorain County.
Another member of Authors-on-Call, country western singer and songwriter Jill Jordan Burke, will not be available because of a concert in Akron on the same day.
With her music, Burke honors grandparents and members of the United States military.
