The Morning Journal (Lorain, OH)

Lessons learned from failed health care bill

-

In general, I believe that The Morning Journal celebrates the failure of the American Health Care Act, referred to as the GOP or Republican Health Care Bill.

There are examples of how Obamacare has helped millions of people.

And this is true. I do know people who have been helped by Obamacare. I also know people who have been hurt by Obamacare. An elderly friend who is not yet destitute just dropped her supplement insurance plan because she no longer can afford it.

It would be great if The Morning Journal would report both sides of the issues.

The rules of Obamacare that prevent companies from growing and the regressive taxation should be mentioned. Denying that Obamacare has serious financial problems is irresponsible.

Trump got a lesson in governing, and the Republicans who have been the opposition party for the last 10 years, also may have learned that they need to compromise before they bring a bill before the public. U.S. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is correct when she described the recent failure as a “rookie error” by Trump.

In 2018, if they don’t learn quickly, the Republicans will lose control of Congress. It remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, some honesty on the part of the Democrats in Congress and the media would help. But that won’t happen.
