Police seek public’s assistance in tracking graffiti artist
The Lorain Police Department is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the successful identification and prosecution of the individual or group of people responsible for the “Foser/Foes” graffiti.
According to Lorain detective Jacob Morris, the police department recently obtained surveillance footage from Erdie Industries located at 1205 Colorado Ave.
Morris said the approximately 20 minutes of footage shows a male pulling up in a car and spray painting the wall of the building.
The police department believes it is the same individual or group responsible for the “Foeser” graffiti which has been showing up across Lorain since December 2016.
The first graffiti appeared on several buildings stretching from West 21st Street to Broadway.
Three businesses on the corner of East 19th Street and Elyria Avenue were targeted in addition to two businesses on Black River Lane underneath the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge.
On Broadway, two addiing tional buildings were taring geted: Steel Coast Trading
Co., in the 1600 block of Broadway; and a structure at 1463 Broadway.
In early 2017, the vandalism continued with buildings on Colorado and stretched into the south side of the city on Grove Avenue.
Morris said graffiti vandalism is a type of
crime which has been historically more difficult to track and the police department is encouraging the community to come forward.
“There are people who have legitimate talent, but it doesn’t give you the right to damage people’s property,” he said.
