Immigration laws must be enforced

-

Kate Steinle died in her father’s arms on a San Francisco waterfront.

Her life was taken from her on July 1, 2015, when she was shot in the back by an illegal immigrant who had previously been deported five times and was seeking refuge in a socalled sanctuary city.

Andrew Moss, who wrote his column, “Why ICE Raids Imperil us All,” on the Morning Journal’s April 2 Opinion page, should ask Kate’s father if his daughter was imperiled by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid. You know, that “imperil us all.”

Moss gives us many examples of illegal immigrants who are hurt by our immigration laws. He does not mention the many more people who are hurt by illegals, including the many who are killed.

If America is going to be a land of law and order, it cannot only be the laws that are approved by Mr. Moss or others who set themselves above the law.

Our immigration laws have been ignored for many years, giving us the mess we now have. Many good people will be hurt, immigrants and others, as this mess gets resolved.

The people who are here illegally took a risk. It may not be fair that some of them get hurt.

It is even less fair that innocent people who play by the rules also get hurt and killed. We elected Donald Trump to do a job.

Let him do it. Don Race New London
