Cleveland to host 2020 NCAA D-I tournament

NCAA tournament action will return to The Q in 2020.

The NCAA announced on April 18 that the first and second rounds of the 2020 Division I men’s basketball championsh­ip will be held in Cleveland on March 20 and March 22.

It is the fourth time that The Q has hosted a NCAA D-I tournament, with The Q playing host to the women’s Final Four in 2007 and the men’s second and third rounds in 2011 and the Midwest Regional in 2015.

RAPTORS EVEN SERIES

Kyle Lowry scored 22 points, including the clinching basket with less than 10 seconds to play, and the Raptors beat the Bucks, 106-100, on Tuesday night, evening their firstround playoff series at 1-1.

DeMar DeRozan had 23 points, Serge Ibaka added 13 of his 16 in the second half and Jonas Valanciuna­s had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Raptors, who improved to 5-1 when playing Game 2 of a playoff series on their home court.

Game 3 is Thursday night in Milwaukee.

Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Bucks. Khris Middleton scored 20 points and Greg Monroe had 18.

Jimmy Butler scored 22 points, Rajon Rondo finished one rebound shy of a tripledoub­le and the Bulls beat the Celtics, 111-97, on Tuesday night to take a 2-0 lead in their series against the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Butler added eight rebounds and eight assists. Rondo’s night ended with 11 points and 14 assists. All five Bulls starters reached double figures.

Dwyane Wade had 22 points, including 16 in the second half, and Robin Lopez added 18 points and eight points.

The Bulls host Game 3 on Friday.

Isaiah Thomas scored 20 points for Boston.

A.J. HAWK TO RETIRE AS

PACKER >> Linebacker A.J. Hawk will retire with the Green Bay Packers.

General Manager Ted Thompson made the announceme­nt Tuesday. Hawk was with the Packers for nine seasons before playing one season with the Bengals and appearing in one game for the Falcons last year.

Hawk was drafted by Green Bay in the 2006 NFL draft out of Ohio State. He ranks first in franchise history with 1,118 career tackles. Hawk played in 142 of a possible 144 regular-season games with Green Bay, appearing in all 16 contests in eight of his nine seasons with the Packers.

BLUE JACKETS WIN FIRST PLAYOFF GAME IN THREE

YEARS >> Markus Nutivaara, William Karlsson and Boone Jenner each had a goal and an assist and the Blue Jackets held on to beat the Penguins, 5-4, on Tuesday, avoiding a sweep in the best-of-seven playoff series.

Jack Johnson and Josh Anderson also scored for the Blue Jackets, who were able to outlast the Penguins when they pushed back hard in the second and third periods and then got a shorthande­d goal from Jake Guenztel with 27 seconds left in the game.

Sergei Bobrovsky had 27 saves to help the Blue Jackets get their first playoff win in three years and their first-ever in regulation.

The Penguins now lead 3-1 in the best-of-seven series, which returns to Pittsburgh for Game 5 on Thursday night.

Patric Hornqvist, Ron Hainsey and Tom Kuhnhackl also scored for Pittsburgh, and Marc-Andre Fleury had 29 saves.
