Elyria man accused of huffing

-

A 28-year-old Elyria man accused of huffing “air duster” while his two children were left unattended in another room of the home, was arrested April 24, according to an Elyria police report.

Michael Suzuki, of Fox Hill Lane, was charged with two counts of endangering children and one count of abuse of harmful intoxicants.

Officers responded to the home around 4 p.m. for reports of an unwanted individual inside.

According to the report, a 47-year-old female relative of Suzuki returned to the residence around 4 p.m. to find Suzuki’s 4-year-old daughter and year-old son unattended in the living room.

Suzuki then was found lying on a bedroom floor “out of it” with a can of “air duster” beside him, the report said.

The relative wanted Suzuki gone, but couldn’t wake him, the report said.

Officers found Suzuki still lying on the floor, and further noticed he had dilated pupils and seemed confused, according to the report.

Suzuki admitted to huffing the “air duster,” but claimed it wasn’t until his relative arrived home so that she could watch his children, the report said.

Elyria Municipal Court records show Suzuki maintained his innocence at his arraignment hearing April 25. A pretrial is set for May 18.
