Melt Bar & Grilled officially coming to Avon

- Staff report

Melt Bar & Grilled has officially announced its intent to open a new location in Avon this summer, according to an April 30 media release.

Melt, which specializes in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, said its 10th full-service location will locate at 35546 Detroit Road, near the corner of state Route 83 and Detroit Road.

A grand opening is planned for late August, the release said.

Founder and CEO Matt Fish expressed enthusiasm for the their expansion west of Cleveland.

“It’s amazing that we’ll soon be opening our 10th Melt location,” Fish said in the release. “We are incredibly fortunate to have such devoted fans and we’re beyond

excited to be bringing our grilled cheese comfort food to Avon and Lorain County.”

The agreement first became known on April 10 in a tweet from Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen.

After a slight delay, Jensen said he was excited to hear the formal announcement from the company.

According to the release, the Avon location will feature nearly 6,000 square feet of dining space with enough seating for about 270 guests. The space also includes a four-season room with garage doors that open to a spacious outdoor patio.

The four-season room will be available for private parties and reservations of up to 80 people, the release said.

Additional information regarding a hiring fair and official grand opening will be released soon.

Melt will occupy the space left vacant by Bar 145, which closed earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Avon is in the process of approving a developer’s agreement to bring a new Taco Bell franchise to the city.

Jensen said if approved by City Council, the construction of the new restaurant will break ground in about 60 days and will be located next to Burger King, across from the Avon Fire Department in the 36000 block of Detroit Avenue.
