Lorain man facing felony charge
A 37-year-old Lorain man accused of stabbing another Lorain man in the chest with a large stainless steel knife in its sheath is facing a felony charge, according to a Lorain police report.
Travis Jackson, of Erie Avenue, was charged with felonious assault following an incident May 4 at Lakeview Apartments, 2616 W. Erie Ave.
Around 4:42 p.m., officers responded to a call of a man who had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 27-yearold victim and learned the victim had a small stab wound to the center of his chest, which happened during an altercation, the report said.
After learning what happened, officers located Jackson at his home and proceeded to pat him down for weapons and found a knife in his pants pocket, the report said.
Jackson denied stabbing the victim and told officers the victim had been arguing with his girlfriend and afterward went over to a nearby apartment and choked out another resident.
Upon speaking with that resident, officers were told that he had not been choked out by the victim and had no involvement in the incident.
The victim was taken by Lifecare to Mercy Hospital for treatment of his injuries, according to the report.
Jackson was arrested on a charge of felonious assault and taken to the Lorain City Jail for booking.
Jackson has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 9, according to Lorain Municipal Court records.
