Early Childhood Education students earn high honors
Thirteen Students Advancing to National Competition
Students from the Lorain County JVS Early Childhood Education programs recently participated in the state competition of Family Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Thirteen students will be advancing to the national competition in Nashville, Tennessee in July. The names of those students that will be advancing to the national level of the competition are underlined.
AMHERST: Makayla Wirth received a silver in the Advocacy event
BROOKSIDE: Samantha Glass earned a 2nd place/ gold medal in Chapter in Review Display; Mia Hall received a silver in the Sports Nutrition event; Aaron Slaby was awarded a silver in the Environmental Ambassador event and a silver in the Chapter Service Display event
CLEARVIEW: Brittney Kovacs was awarded a silver in the Environmental Ambassador event and a silver in the Chapter Service Display event
ELYRIA: Kaelee Demyan earned a silver in the Advocacy event; Brooklyn McDonald was awarded a silver in the Chapter Service Display event; Ashley Watson earned a 1st place/gold medal in Life Event Planning and a 2nd place/gold medal in the Chapter in Review Portfolio event; Moesha Willis earned a 2nd place/gold medal in the Chapter in Review Display event
FIRELANDS: Holly Blankenship earned a 3rd place/ gold medal in the Interpersonal Communications event; Joy Vaughn was awarded a 2nd place/gold medal in the Chapter in Review Display event
KEYSTONE: Hailey Blackburn earned a 1st placed/gold medal in the National Programs in Action event; Taylor Daniels earned a silver in the Interpersonal Communications event; Ciarra Thompson earned a 1st place/gold medal in the Promote and Publicize FCCLA event; Libby Worthington received a 1st place/gold medal in the Promote and Publicize FCCLA event and a 1st place/ gold medal in National Programs in Action
MIDVIEW: Amanda Fallon earned a 3rd place/gold medal in the Focus on Children event; Ciera Smith was awarded a 3rd place/gold medal in the Interpersonal Communications event; Rachael Walker was awarded a 2nd place/gold medal in the Chapter in Review Portfolio event
NORTH RIDGEVILLE: Brooke Bird was awarded a 2nd place/gold medal in the Chapter Service Project Portfolio event; Lilly Heiman earned a 3rd place/ gold medal in the Interpersonal Communications event; Ashley Hock was awarded a 2nd place/ gold medal in the Chapter Service Project Portfolio event; Amanda Latto was awarded a 2nd place/gold medal in the Chapter Service Project Portfolio event; Nicolle Lesiw earned a silver medal in the Sports Nutrition event
WELLINGTON: Alayna Rico earned a silver in the Interpersonal Communications event
FCCLA is a nonprofit national career and technical organization for students in family and consumer sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life — planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal communication — necessary in the home and workplace. Chapter projects focus on a variety of youth concerns, including teen pregnancy, parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness, teen violence and career exploration.
