JVS culinary students receive high honors at state event

Students from the Lorain County JVS Culinary Academy recently participat­ed in the state competitio­n of Family Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).

Eleven students will be advancing to the national competitio­n in July.

Students participat­ing included:

AMHERST: Madisyn Bollon (Bakery & Pastry Arts) received a gold medal in the Pastry Tray Event

Mackenzie Duta (Culinary Arts) placed third in the Sports Nutrition Event

Angela LaRosa (Bakery & Pastry Arts) received a gold medal in the Garde Manger Event

Hannah Moore (Culinary Arts) placed first in the Career Investigat­ion Event and first in the Garde Manger Event

Haley Myers (Bakery & Pastry Arts) received a gold medal in the Creative Cake Event

Andrew Shaffer (Culinary Arts) placed third in the Culinary Team Event

AVON: Sean Murphy (Bakery & Pastry Arts) received a gold medal in the Hospitalit­y, Tourism and Recreation Event

Jack Wagner (Culinary Arts) placed first in the Culinary Team Event and first in the Hospitalit­y, Tourism and Recreation Event

AVON LAKE: Erik Kniep (Culinary Arts) placed first in the Applied Culinary Math Event

BROOKSIDE: Kailey Kudela (Culinary Arts) placed second in the Product Developmen­t Event

Ariah Rhymes (Bakery & Pastry Arts) received a silver medal in the Hospitalit­y, Tourism and Recreation Event

Christian Stenzel (Culinary Arts) received a gold medal in the Career Investigat­ion Event

CLEARVIEW: Xavier Speckhart (Culinary Arts) placed third in the Culinary Team Event

ELYRIA: Zarriah Bobbit (Culinary Arts) placed second in the Product Developmen­t Event

Alaya Hill (Bakery & Pastry Arts) received a gold medal in the Creative Cake Event

Armonni Nixon (Culinary Arts) placed first in the Culinary Team Event

Brandon Swain (Bakery & Pastry Arts) received a silver medal in the Hospitalit­y, Tourism and Recreation Event

Cheyenne Thacker (Culinary Arts) placed first in the Culinary Team Event and placed second in the Applied Culinary Math Event

MIDVIEW: Brandon Kilgore (Culinary Arts) received a gold medal in the Job Interview Event

Justine Ratusz (Culinary Arts) placed second in the Food Innovation Event

NORTH RIDGEVILLE: CJ Howard (Culinary Arts) received a gold medal in the Website Design Event and placed third in the Culinary Team Event
