Area community briefs Vaccine clinics set in Lorain County
Vaccines for children and adults offered by the Lorain County General Health District are available at the following locations in June:
• 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, Lorain County General Health District, 9880 South Murray Ridge Road, Elyria
• 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, Lorain County General Health District, 9880 South Murray Ridge Road, Elyria

Travel-related vaccines and resources are available by appointment.
Clinic times and dates are subject to change. Call 440-284-3206 to check clinic times or to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome. All children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Bring the patient’s current immunization record, insurance card, and cash or check. LCGHD participates in the Vaccines for Children Program to provide vaccines to children that qualify. No child in the VFC program is turned away for inability to pay.

Pancake breakfasts served in Lorain
Lorain Community Senior Center, 3361 Garfield Blvd., Lorain, will host a pancake breakfast from 9 to 10 a.m., on the first Friday of every month. Donations are welcome.
The breakfast is open to the community and will offer pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee.

USS Cod topic of breakfast program
Paul Farace, president of the USS Cod Submarine Memorial, will present a program on the history of the USS Cod Submarine Memorial from 9 to 10 a.m., June 1 at the North Ridgeville Senior Center Men’s Breakfast.
The National Historical Landmark is docked in Cleveland. Farace will present the history of the Cod and the navigational systems, torpedo history air system and diving procedures.
The men’s breakfast is open to senior men 55 years and older. The meal is $3 per person and begins at 9 a.m. followed by the program at 9:20 a.m. Reservations may be called in by 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 30 to the Senior Center at 440-353-0828.
Lake Erie shipwrecks topic of programs
North Ridgeville Senior Center, 7327 Avon Belden Road, North Ridgeville, will offer “Great Lakes shipwreck Series” from 1 to 2 p.m. July 3,10 and 31.
Lake Erie has perhaps the largest concentration of shipwrecks per square mile of any body of water in the world, stated Goergamm and Mike Wachter authors, shipwreck hunters divers and researchers. They will provide an enthralling presentation on many different shipwreck topics.
These programs are Mondays in July and are $10 for the series of three programs. Fee must be paid at time of registration.
