A 26-year-old Elyria man was found guilty June 6 of abduction and other charges involving his former girlfriend.

Terrance L. Jackson Jr. pleaded no contest to abduction, aggravated burglary, domestic violence and criminal damaging or endangering in connection to a Feb. 21, 2016, incident.

Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Mark A. Betleski scheduled sentencing for Jackson on July 17 pending a pre-sentence investigation.

According to an Elyria police report, Jackson entered the Gates Avenue house of the ex-girlfriend through an unlocked door.

The report said the woman did not invite, nor wanted, Jackson at the residence.

There was a verbal altercation between the two which culminated with the woman pepper spraying Jackson, according to the report. She told police Jackson then punched her several times in her side. The woman said she ran from the residence, but Jackson followed her out and smashed her phone when she attempted to call police for help, the report said.

Jackson, at one point, grabbed the woman in a “headlock” and dragged her to a black vehicle, the report said. She claimed Jackson drove her around the block and re-parked the car in front of her house and “threw” her out of the vehicle, the report said.

Another adult who witnessed the assault corroborated the woman’s narrative of the incident, the report said.

At the time of the crimes, Jackson had a temporary protection order filed against him to stay away from the woman, however, it had not been served to him, the report said.

Jackson turned himself in to police the day after the incident, the report said.
