U.S. doesn’t need Paris climate accord

-

The list of proponents of the Paris climate agreement are the news media; activists who support Obama’s legacy; Al Gore, who will update his sequel to his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” to warn us of the impending doom without the Paris accord; Hollywood breakdown (what happened to all those were going to leave the country after Trump was elected?); Democrat donors; and foreign leaders, etc.

I read or hear very limited coverage in the news media of the fact that the Paris climate accord is not a binding treaty. China and other Third World countries are continuing to operate with fossil fuels and have no intention of reducing their outputs, and, most of all, America is already operating at a level of emissions far below those countries.

Climate change is real, however, I will believe it is a result of man’s existence when you convince me that man caused the Glacial Grooves on Kelleys Island.

Remember many years ago when Lorain Steel Mill was puffing out clouds of red ash damaging nearby houses and vehicle paint jobs?

At the time, we had politicians suggesting that we not use charcoal grills.

Our industries were then, and are now, concerned with the damaging effect of their operations regarding our environment.

We have ample activists in our country to keep our industries operating at safe levels of emissions. Are they necessary? Sure. As long as we do not lose sight of common-sense capitalism.

We do not need the Paris climate accord. Ted M. Rink Avon
