Elder Richard L Taylor, 80, “Flight to Glory” was Sunday, June 11, 2017 rounded by his wife, children and children.

Richard L. Taylor was the sixth of teen children born February 12, 1937 in Rolfe (Worth) West Virginia to the late Richard Taylor Sr. and Rachel (nee Moon) Taylor.

Richard moved to Lorain and attended Clearview High School. Prior to ation he was a star member of the ketball team that led the Clearview pers to win the Lakeland Conference State Championsh­ip and was in the Clearview Hall of Fame. He met his heart, Gladys Smith and they were later united in holy rimony. From that union seven children were born. Richard was employed by USS Kolbe/Steel retiring after 37+ years of employment as a Licensed Crane Operator. He was also employed for a few years by the City of Lorain.

A devoted servant of God, he faithfully held the office as Sunday School Superinten­dant for over 20 years at the Apostolic Church of the Living God, elected as a member of the executive board, and willingly served in various other capacities on the local and national level. He was committed to the work of the ministry for many years Minister Richard Taylor was later ordained Elder under the pastorate of Elder Allie H. Stevens and soon elected Assistant Pastor for over 10 years, following the death of Elder Allie H. Stevens, Elder Taylor accepted the office as Pastor for a few years.

In 2004, Elder Taylor joined New St. Peter Church of God in Christ under the pastorate of District Superinten­dent Edward Jones Jr. and was devoted member and served faithfully until his health declined.

His loving memory will be cherished by his wife of almost 60 years and his legacy will be continued through his dren: Judith LeGarde, Cuyahoga County, OH; Ruth “Eileen” Taylor, Columbus, OH; Marsha (James) Owens, Lansing, MI; Annette “Kay” Davis, Phoebe(Mario) Kirk, Trevor(Adrian) all of Lorain County, OH. Albert “Mark” (Paulette) Taylor, oldsburg, OH. (4) Brothers: James Taylor, Douglas (Minnie) Taylor of Lorain, OH. Leonard (Joyce) Taylor of Elyria, OH; Harold Taylor of Champlin, MN; (4) Sisters: Hattie Davis and Rachel Goodwin of Lorain, OH; Betty (Tommy) Fluker of Sheffield Lake OH and Velma (Carl) Kimbrough of Elyria; 28 grandchild­ren; 21 great grandchild­ren and host of other ing relatives and friends.

Elder Taylor was preceded in death by his parents Richard Taylor Sr. and Rachel (nee Moon) Taylor. (3) Brothers: Robert Taylor Sr., Carl Taylor Sr., and Riley Taylor Sr.: (4) Sisters, Geraldine Taylor and Lillie Simmons, Carolyne Moore, ter Carol Merchant.

Family and Friends will be received from 9:00 to 11:00 am Saturday, June 17, 2017 at House of Praise, 4321 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, OH 44055. Homegoing Services will begin at 11:00 am.

Interment will immediate follow services at Ridge Hill morial Park – 44805 N. Ridge Road, Amherst, OH 44001.
