LCCC offers program for vets

Lorain County Community College announced it is helping veterans bridge the gap to civilian life with a new accelerate­d program designed to assist veteran medics and corpsmen and others with military experience find new careers as paramedics or other health care positions.

This program is designed to accelerate the paramedic program by allowing students to receive credit for their military medic and corpsman experience through Prior Learning Assessment. This customized program will allow participan­ts to move through and learn alongside fellow veterans with similar goals and experience­s. Veterans may apply their VA educationa­l benefits to the program.

Those interested in the program can learn more at upcoming informatio­n sessions: 9-10:30 a.m., July 12; 6-7:30 p.m., July 18; or 2-3:30 p.m., July 21.

All informatio­n sessions will be held in the lobby of the LCCC University Partnershi­p Ridge Campus, 32121 Lorain Road in North Ridgeville.

Informatio­n sessions will include representa­tives from LCCC Veterans Services, program instructor­s, academic advisors and informatio­n about related programs, such as Fire Science and the Paramedic to Registered Nurse program.
