Police and court briefs Man arrested after alleged assault

An alleged felonious assault June 18 resulted in the arrest of a 62-year-old Lorain man, according to a Lorain police report.

Stanley Scott was arrested and charged with second-degree felonious assault following an incident that occurred around 9:40 a.m., the report said.

Upon arrival at the scene, an employee of the Haven Center directed police to the 49-year-old victim, who claimed Scott assaulted him, according to the report.

The victim said he was in the parking lot of the Haven Center when Scott began approachin­g the lot, according to the report.

On multiple occasions in the recent past, Scott has threatened to physically assault and rape him, the report said.

The victim claims Scott was walking through the parking lot and about half way across, Scott looked back, noticed him sitting on the picnic table, according to the report.

He said Scott immediatel­y became upset and shouted at him, the report said.

Scott told him he was going to sexually assault him and walked toward the male and continued to make threaten violence, the report said.

The victim stood up as Scott approached. He said he did this because he knew Scott was capable of being violence, the report said.

While making threats, Scott spat in his face and then punched him in the face, according to the report. The victim tried to fight back.

When police talked with Scott, he claimed the male hit him first, the report said.

Police spoke with a witness whose statements matched the victim and police arrested Scott.

Scott has a preliminar­y hearing June 27 in the Lorain Municipal Court.
