Scholarships available

-

• Lorain County Community College graduates and staff are now eligible to apply for the WGU Ohio Community College Scholarship, which goes toward tuition at the online Western Governors University (WGU). The scholarships, valued at $2,500 each, will be applied at the rate of $625 per six-month term, renewable for up to four terms, toward WGU’s tuition of about $6,000 per year for most programs. This scholarship is open to new WGU students who have been officially admitted to WGU. Scholarships will be awarded based on the candidate’s academic record, readiness for online study, and current competency, as well as other considerations.

Those who have graduated with an associate degree or are employed at Lorain County Community College or other Ohio Association of Community College (OACC) institutions are eligible to apply.

Last fall, WGU and the OACC announced a partnership that allows Ohio community college graduates to seamlessly transfer their coursework to WGU while also receiving a 5 percent tuition discount.

The new scholarship announcement builds on that partnership, making it even more affordable for community college graduates and staff to complete their college journey with a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
