Citizens hoping to share ideals for a chief executive officer to run Lorain City Schools may fill out a survey online.

Lorain Academic Distress Commission Chair Tony Richardson said the commission must appoint a CEO by July 25. Community sessions June 19-20 were intended to gather information from focus groups and citizens regarding needs and concerns in the district.

Because some people may not have been able to attend one of the meetings, an online survey is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KXR8SZR

Questions include characteristics desired in a CEO; issues the person will face in the first 12 months; and general comments.

The surveys can be filed anonymously.

Atlantic Research Partners from Chicago is searching nationwide to fill the position created by House Bill 70. The CEO will have the powers of a superintendent and most of the powers of a school board in order to improve academics of all schools in the district. If academic distress continues, individual schools and or the district could be changed into charter schools.

Applications for the position must be filed with Atlantic Research Partners by July 10.
