Woman accused of assaulting officer

A 26-year-old Lorain woman was arrested June 21 after authoritie­s said she assaulted a Lorain police officer, according to a Lorain police report.

Ruqqahi Bell was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer, and single counts of resisting arrest and obstructin­g official business, the report said.

About 9:13 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of West 12th Street for a disturbanc­e.

Upon arrival, officers saw about 10 people arguing in front and around the residence, the report said.

While investigat­ing the incident, Bell was intoxicate­d and was trying to fight individual­s around the home, the report said.

Police advised Bell to stop screaming, but she refused and was arrested, the report said.

She began resisting officers, according to the report.

After a short time, officers were able to handcuff her with the help of other officers, the report said.

When attempting to take her to the squad car, Bell fell to the ground, refusing to get inside the vehicle, according to the report.

As an officer attempted to pick her up , she kneed the officer in the groin area, the report said.

Bell also attempted to spit in the face of police, the report said.

Officers managed to pick her up and place her in the cruiser. While inside, she attempted to kick out the rear window of the police cruiser, according to the report.

When police opened the door, she began to kick at the officer, the report said.

The officer took out his stun gun from his holster and pointed it at Bell and told her to stop, which she complied, the report stated.
