COACH OF THE YEAR

Frank DeSmit

In his final year as coach at Avon, DeSmit — with help from a senior-heavy lineup — led the Eagles to their first Southwestern Conference championship, their first-ever district title and a memorable 14-inning regional semifinal game. DeSmit was overwhelmingly nominated as Morning Journal Coach of the Year by his fellow coaches, as well. The Eagles put together a historic season in his 10th and final year as coach, and Avon baseball will certainly not be the same without DeSmit at the helm.
