Police arrest 3 in connection with stolen vehicles
Elyria police have arrested three suspects in connection to the theft of two vehicles June 19, according to Capt. Chris Costantino.
About 2:30 p.m., June 23, police arrested Elijawon Banks in his residence on Howe Street, and Elijah Benner and Justin Rahrig Sr., in Rahrig’s residence on Dellwood Road in Grafton, Costantino said.
Around 7:20 a.m., June 19, a 2012 Ford F-150 and a 2017 Ford Escape were reported stolen from a home on Hollywood Drive.
On June 21, the Escape was spotted in Sheffield Lake when a police pursuit began.
The vehicle was lost in the area of Gateway Boulevard.
On June 22, police saw the Ford F-150 traveling on East Avenue in Elyria and pursued the vehicle.
The vehicle pulled into a driveway on Gates Avenue and two black males got and began running.
Officers began a foot pursuit, but lost the suspects behind some homes.
Banks was charged with receiving stolen property and obstructing official business, Costantino said.
Benner was charged with burglary, theft and two counts of obstructing official business, he said.
Rahrig was charged with burglary, theft and two counts of obstructing official business.
Benner and Rahrig has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 3 in the Elyria Municipal Court.
