Awards banquet: The Elyria Ministeria­l Alliance is celebratin­g 65 years of service with an awards banquet honoring several local men and women for their contributi­ons to the community, including Mayor Holly Brinda, Dr. Tom Jama and others. Free day camp: A weeklong free day camp will be hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Ave., (next to NAPA) Vermilion, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 24-28. The week combines the best of outdoor summer camp, for children who have completed kindergart­en through sixth grade, without having to leave home. Scholarshi­p luncheon: St. Ann Lodge Br. 114 FCSLA will host the annual scholarshi­p luncheon and monthly meeting at 1 p.m. July 16. The event will be at the American Slovak Club 2915 Broadway. Vacation Bible School: Barnyard Roundup is for children ages 6 through 12, and will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m., July 25-27, at Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Blvd., Lorain. The week will include a light supper, crafts, games, snacks and bible lessons. Any remaining available tickets will be sold at the door. The menu will be: barbecue chicken, homemade potato salad, fresh garden veggies, rolls, baked beans, apple sauce, beverages and deserts. Vacation Bible School: LakeShore United Methodist Church, 33119 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake, invites kids ages 4 years to fourth grade to the Hero Central Vacation Bible School. Young people and adults will explore God’s Heroes have a Heart, Courage, Wisdom, Hope and Power. It will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 31, Aug. 4 and Aug. 6. St. Peter festival: The popular St. Peter Parish annual festival will be 5 to 9 p.m., Aug. 5 and 1 to 7 p.m., Aug. 6, at 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The public is invited to attend for fellowship, homemade food, beverages, live music and dancing, children’s games, raffles, instant bingo, and other games of chance. Admission is free and there is plenty of free, safe, convenient parking available. Drive-thru dinners: St. Jude Women’s Guild at 180 7th St. Columbiana, will be offering drive-thru dinners from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) every first Thursday of the month. The menu will include stuffed pepper, homemade mashed potatoes, homemade applesauce, roll/butter & dessert. Price is $8and all proceeds will go to “Rebuilding together in Faith, Hope & Love” campaign to renovate and expand our church. Sunday services: Old Stone Church, 553 S.
