A Lorain woman accused of assaulting a police officer was arrested and booked into the Lorain County Jail.

A Lorain woman accused of assaulting a police officer was arrested and booked into the Lorain County Jail on July 21, according to a Lorain police report.

Keishla Perez, 27, of East 29th Street, is facing two counts of assault on a police officer and single counts of resisting arrest and obstructing official business.

At 8:20 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2400 block of East 29th for a 14-year-old juvenile who fled from a probation officer earlier in the day, the report said.

When police knocked on the door, a 29-year-old man answered the door and was not cooperative with officers about the whereabouts of the juvenile, the report said.

While trying to get information from the man, Perez entered the living room claiming the child did nothing wrong, according to the report.

Perez attempted to shut the door, but failed because an officer placed his foot in the door to keep communication going about where the juvenile could be found, according to the report.

Once police confirmed the address on the warrant, officers told Perez they would enter the home to search for the suspect.

Perez became enraged when police pushed back against the door to open it, the report said.

As the door opened, she began to beat on the officer’s chest, destroying his sunglasses hanging from his pocket, according to the report.

Officers grabbed Perez pulling her out of the doorway and onto the porch, where she began to attack another officer, the report said. Perez cocked her right arm back, made a fist and swung at the officer, who maneuvered out the way and only received a minor strike to his chin.

The man who answered the door saw what was happening and started to force his way out to the porch. Police attempted to push him back in the house, according to the report.

While trying to contain the two adults, a 13-yearold boy in the home started to pull on officers, the report said.

Perez attempted to scramble back into the house through the front door while the boy was pulling on officers, according to the report.

An officer was able to use his left leg to trip Perez while holding the man from coming out onto the porch. Perez then was handcuffed and placed into a police cruiser, the report said.

As officers entered the house to begin the search for the suspect, the 13-yearold told the dog to attack police, according to the report.

One officer stopped at the front door and the other officer ran up a flight of stairs to avoid the dog, the report said.

The dog did not respond and was placed in a secure location.

Police continued their search, but did not find the juvenile inside the home.
