Frank Findley, age 90, of Lorain, OH, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017, to be with the Lord.

With World War II enlisting many of the country’s men, Frank became master of his troop while still in high school. He graduated early from Lorain High School in 1945 to enlist in the Navy. He was stationed on the USS Hornet in the Pacific, near the end of the war. After the war, he returned to Lorain where he met and married the love of his life, vira. Their 69th Wedding niversary is August 28th.

A devoted husband and father, Frank was very involved in his parish, St. Ladislaus, of Lorain. He served twice as President of the Holy Name Society, headed up their mas and Easter Hungarian sausage sale for many years, as well as founded the First Friday Club. In dition, Frank was also a member of the American Legion.

He retired from US Steel after 41 years, where he was a Millwright and Machinist. After retiring, Frank and his wife vira continued to be very active in their parish. Together they were Eucharisti­c Ministers at Mercy Hospital and helped with many activities and functions at the parish, including weekly cleaning of the church and serving as lectors.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elvira Dayka ley, sons; Frank, of Beloit, WI and Jeff, of Lawrencevi­lle, GA, Daughter-in-law, Patsy Findley, of Beloit, WI, Sister-in-Law, Carol Findley, of Amherst, OH, Grandson, Evan, of renceville, GA, Granddaugh­ter, Allison, of Dallas, TX, and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Claire ley, mother, Mary Micklos Findley, and brothers; Claire, John(Jack), and William(Bill).

The family will receive friends at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, OH 44001, on Thursday, July 27th from 5 to 8 pm. His Mass of Christian burial on Friday, at 10:00am, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 418 W 15th St, Lorain, OH 44052. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Rev. Fr. James P. Schmitz, Pastor of St. Leo the Great Parish, land, and Rev. Fr. John C. Retar, Pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow at vary Cemetery, Lorain, OH, where full military honors will be conducted by the Amherst Honor Guard.
