Anna “Betty” Martin (nee Stuart), 98, of Vermilion, died Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

Anna was born ary 3, 1919, in Clydebank, Scotland and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 61 years moving from Scotland.

She had served in the Women’s Army with the Forestry Commission during WWII.

She enjoyed golfing, traveling and gardening, but the most important thing in her life was her family. Betty will be bered for her humor, caring and compassion­ate nature, and random acts of kindness.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (John) schenkel of Vermilion; son, Robert Martin of Melbourne, tralia; grandchild­ren, Danielle (Adrian) Peffley, John Cody (Lisa) Martin, Kathryn Brumensche­nkel, Scott (Jenny) tin, and Peta Martin; and 11 great grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Martin, in 2000; parents, Charles and Florence (nee McCauley) art; sons, Michael, Hugh Jr. and John Martin; sisters, Louise Strickland, Helen Massey, and Isabel Gunn; and her brothers, Gordon and Charles Stuart.

A celebratio­n of Anna’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Aug. 5 at her daughter’s home, 5875 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.

The family suggests memorial contributi­ons to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
