Support urged for Friendship APL

-

There are a lot of things I do to improve my city and community and many things and people who improve things I cannot. I have had help from the city, the police, and good people, and now I have been blessed by the Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County.

For many years, because of grants originally given by PetSmart and applied for by Mayor Holly Brinda, the spay and neutering of stray cats began.

Now the grants and monies are gone and our wonderful APL needs our help through the Fix Elyria program of the APL.

There are many ways to help them: food, new traps, donations of money, volunteering and participation.

I have seen a huge difference in my neighborhood over the last three summers because of the trapping and neutering program. Part of what I do is feed the cats that have been fixed.

Most recently, the staff and Friendship APL Executive Director Greg Willey assisted me with some very terrible situations at their expense.

Their kindness alleviated suffering of an animal and provided aid to another. I can’t express what it meant to me except the word miraculous.

Everyone can do something to help the wonderful staff, the animals and Greg Willey to replenish their funds.

I could see raffles and fundraisers from the Boys and Girls Club, the 4-H, and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Churches could help and City Council members can donate. There are things at every level that are needed. In a world that has gone dark, we can all help the Fix Elyria program at the Friendship APL and the Friendship APL in general. Theresa Shea Elyria
