Gene Haas Foundation awards $10,000 to LCCC students
The Gene Haas Foundation has awarded $10,000 in scholarship funds for students in the Computer-Aided Machining/ Manufacturing and Computer Numerically Controlled programs at Lorain County Community College.
The Gene Haas Foundation was created in 1999 by Gene Haas, founder and president of Haas Automation, Inc. and reflects Haas’ commitment to the manufacturing industry in the USA and manufacturing education.
This year alone the Gene Haas Foundation has granted more than $9 million to manufacturing education in the form of scholarships, inspiring young people to explore manufacturing as a career.
“Haas is committed to the success of machining programs and students. The Gene Haas Foundation is just one way that we work to support and promote careers in manufacturing,” said Toni Neary, director of education at Hass Foundation.
“The funds can be used for student scholarships, to provide NIMS credentials and to promote the competitive spirit in advanced manufacturing programs. We are so excited to present these funds to the machining program at Lorain County Community College and cannot wait to hear about the students we impact.”
Haas, who was born in Ohio, is the founder and owner of Haas Automation, Inc., America’s leading manufacturer of CNC machine tools.
“We are extremely grateful to the Gene Haas Foundation for this scholarship award,” said Kelly Zelesnik, dean of LCCC’s Engineering, Business and Information Technologies division. “Scholarship awards are often times the difference between our students leaving school and being successful. With these funds we can help prepare additional students for careers in advanced manufacturing.”
