Nord Family Foundation announces grant recipients
The Nord Family Foundation announced the list of nonprofit organizations in the fields of health and social services, education, civic affairs and arts that have been awarded grants, according to a media release.
At the June 17 Board of Trustees meeting, grants approved totaled $2,684,221 to be disbursed in Lorain County; Cuyahoga County; Columbia, S.C.; Denver; Boston; and other areas of interest, the release said.
Forty-two other actions totaling $71,791 also were ratified at the meeting bringing the total grants authorized in this round to $2,756,012.
Arts and culture
• The MAD* Factory in Oberlin — $50,000 in continued core mission support.
• Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra Inc. in Oberlin — $35,000 in support for the 2017-18 Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra Season.
• Oberlin Choristers in Oberlin — $40,000 in support of general operations.
Civic affairs
• Christ Episcopal Church in Oberlin — $9,053 toward food pantry refrigeration upgrade.
• Community Foundation of Lorain County in Elyria — $20,000 in support of Elyria Rotary Club Centennial Playground in Cascade Park.
• Oberlin Historical and Improvement Organization in Oberlin — $29,000 in support of capital improvements.
• Primary Purpose Center Inc. in Sheffield Township — $45,000 in support of Primary Purpose Center Sheffield Women’s Center.
Education
• Midview Local School District in Grafton — $46,000 toward Expansion of Project Lead the Ways Biomedical Science program.
• The Nord Family Foundation Initiative in Amherst — $30,000 as needed for commission professional development.
Health and social services
• Lorain County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services Inc in Lorain — $27,500 in support of the Bridge Detox Device pilot program.
• Lorain County Office on Aging in Elyria — $30,000 in continued support of the Lorain County Kinship Caregiver Program.
• The Nord Family Foundation Initiative in Amherst — $200,000 to support the development and implementation of a coordinated collective response to the opiate/opioid crisis in Lorain County.
• The Salvation Army in Elyria — $50,000 in continued support of core programming in Elyria and Lorain.
• Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio in Lorain — $300,000 in continued support of the Lorain County Partner Hunger Relief Network annual budget and toward PantryTrak Poverty Data Collection and Analysis project, over three years.
• YWCA of Elyria $40,000 in Elyria in continued support of Youth Development: Girls Circle and Girl Power programming.
