Avon Lake City Schools announced the hiring of Joseph J. Mueller as the new principal of Avon Lake High School, according to an Aug. 2 news release from the district.
Mueller, who was selected in a special meeting July 31 of the Avon Lake School Board, most recently served as principal at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.

“Joe has an outstanding record and has been hired to lead Avon Lake High School forward in a positive manner, and to be a positive contributor to the district leadership team,” said Robert Scott, superintendent of Avon Lake Schools.
Mueller attended Kent State University where he received his bachelor of arts degree in history and a master of arts in political science before attaining his educational administration licensure from Cleveland State University.
He resides in Lodi with his wife, Renee, where they raise alpacas and quarter horses. He has two children and five grandchildren.
The district will hold an open meet and greet with the community from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 7, in the Daniel B. Ross Performing Arts Center at the High School, 175 Avon Belden Road.
