Man pleads guilty to burglaries
This is Satterfield’s sixth and seventh conviction for theft-related charges through Common Pleas Court since 2016.
A 35-year-old Elyria man pleaded guilty Aug. 7 to multiple charges relating to burglaries.
Robert E. Satterfield appeared in Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark A. Betleski’s courtroom to plead guilty on two cases.
Overall he pleaded to six counts of burglary, five counts of breaking and entering, two counts of theft, two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and a single count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity in connection to incidents earlier in the year.
This is Satterfield’s sixth and seventh conviction for theft-related charges through Common Pleas Court since 2016.
In exchange for his plea, Satterfield has agreed to testify in the trial of his co-defendant in one of the cases which is scheduled to begin Aug. 17 in Betleski’s courtroom. It is due to this provision of the deal that Satterfield will be housed at the Lorain County Jail pending his testimony.
As part of the deal, Betleski said he intends to sentence Satterfield to five mandatory years, which will be served concurrently with his current sentence.
Satterfield is currently serving a sentence scheduled to end in September of 2019 at the Richfield Correctional Institution.
Back in October, Satterfield was accused of grand theft auto after he led Elyria police on a short chase in a stolen white 2016 Hyundai Sonata.
According to a report, he took the car and then told the 36-year-old female victim he would return the rented vehicle to Enterprise, 303 Cleveland St., by its return date of Oct. 28 and never did.
Police began searching for him after a man he had dropped off at an Elyria business attempted to sell stolen items. When officers located Satterfield, a search of the Sonata turned up numerous articles of suspected stolen property, as well as an unloaded Heritage Manufacturer Rough Rider .22-caliber revolver.
Satterfield pleaded guilty to charges connected to that incident.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 21 in Betleski’s courtroom.
