Crash sends seven people to hospitals

The Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigat­ing a serious injury crash in New Haven Township that sent seven people to area hospitals.

At 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 18, a 30-year-old man from Plymouth driving a 1997 Toyota Camry and a 70-year-old man from Willard driving a 2013 Internatio­nal Semi pulling a trailer were traveling south on state Route 103 while a 36-year-old Plymouth woman was driving aa 2012 Ford F-150 southbound, according to a release.

The Camry attempted to pass the Semi by entering the F-150’s lane. When the Camry attempted to reenter the original lane it struck the trailer the semi was pulling causing it to lose control. The Camry and the F-150 collided and rested on the east side of the road, the release said.

The driver of the Camry received serious injuries and was taken via helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital. He was not wearing his seatbelt, the release said.

The driver of the F-150 suffered incapacita­ting injuries and was taken to Willard Mercy Hospital. She was wearing her seatbelt, according to the release.

A 41-year-old Willard woman riding in the F-150 suffered incapacita­ting injuries and being flown to St. Vincent Hospital via helicopter. She was wearing her seatbelt, the release said.

A 10-year-old boy riding in the F-150 suffered incapacita­ting injuries and was taken to Willard Mercy Hospital. The release said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

According to the release, an 11-year-old boy in the F-150 was flown to St. Vincent Hospital for incapacita­ting injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

An 8-year-old girl who was riding in the F-150 was transporte­d to Willard Mercy Hospital, and was not wearing her seatbelt, according to the release.

A 34-year-old Willard man in the F-150 was flown to St. Vincent Hospital after suffering incapacita­ting injuries in the crash. He was not wearing his seatbelt, the release said.

The Semi driver was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured, the release said.

Police are still investigat­ing and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
