Woman accused of hitting boyfriend with a hammer

A 44-year-old Elyria woman is facing assault charges after a Aug. 30 verbal argument with her livein boyfriend turned physical, according to an Elyria police report.

Pasty Bodiford, of Middle Avenue, is facing felonious assault and domestic violence charges.

At 9:24 p.m., officers were called to Middle Avenue for a report of a stabbing, according to the report.

When police arrived, they spoke with a 58-yearold male who was bleeding heavily from a head wound, the report said.

The victim told officers he and his girlfriend were drinking at their daughter’s home.

When they returned home intoxicate­d, Bodiford wanted to leave, but was stopped by the victim, the report said.

She became angry and told the male to leave, taking a pile of his clothing and throwing it at the front door area, according to the report.

When the victim walked toward the door to gather his belongings, Bodiford struck him in the head with a hammer that she picked up in the kitchen area, the report said.

After being struck, the male left the residence and eventually met with officers.

The victim said Bodiford also picked up a knife and began stabbing a table in the apartment.

When police checked the residence, Bodiford was no where to be found, but they located the hammer and saw a splatter of blood in the kitchen, the report said.
