- — Staff reports

A Lorain man is accused of domestic violence and confining a 25-yearold woman in a shared apartment, according to a police report.

Sherman M. Williamson Jr., 32, of Lorain, is charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint and was transported to the Lorain City Jail.

On Sept. 7, Lorain police responded to an apartment on the 400 block of Delaware Avenue after receiving neighbor complaints of screaming.

After investigating an argument which turned physical, police discovered evidence Williamson had modified the door to the apartment to prevent the victim from escaping. The woman showed officers the door, which contained a long wooden screw angled into the frame, preventing it from being opened from either the inside or outside, the report said.

Officers also located several screwdrivers in a drawer located a few feet away from the door.

The victim told police after living in the apartment for the past six months, an argument broke out after she told Williamson she wanted to end their relationship. She stated the argument turned physical and Williamson choked her several times before throwing her down on a bed before losing consciousness in attempting to fight back, the report said.

Police observed red scratch marks on the victim’s neck consistent with someone who had been choked.
